I've built for other people. |

Dave's Aircraft TG-3: I built this
as an electric launch flat field glider for my flying buddy Dave. A
Graupner speed 600 with a planetary gearbox driving a 12*10 folding
propeller on I think 8 cells. Climb was reasonable and the run time was
sufficient for several good climbs to thermal hunting altitude. It was
also a lot of fun on the slope since it has the higher wing loading of
an electric which helps with penetration. It also is nice to have the
option of powering up during low lift cycles. |
 |
Dave's Aircraft Works Schweizer 1-26 Hand Launch: Built stock for my
flying buddy Dave. This is a nice flying little hand launch airplane. I
did add a tow hook so Dave could use a mini hi start to launch. |
 |
Trick RC Zagi: Nothing special here, just another Zagi for Dave. The
test flight is worth mentioning. We went out to Temescal Canyon and the
wind was howling, sustained wind of 30-35 with gusts to 45 measured with
a wind speed meter. It was blowing out of the north so only a small
section of the hill was producing list. Never one to pass on a challenge
I agreed to test fly it in the insane conditions. It took several
minutes just to figure out how to hold onto the plane and then a few
more to actually get it pushed far enough out to get my hand back on the
transmitter before the airplane was literally in my face. Eventually I
was successful in launching the Zagi. It required a lot of down elevator
just to maintain position in the gale. Even more to make it penetrate
out away from the hill. The best part was continuous rolls right at the
end of the transmitter antenna. |
 |
Goldberg Mirage: Box stock for Frank. I had purchased an extra wing
kit for mine before it was stolen and Frank purchased it to make an
aileron equipped wing for his. |
 |
Multiplex Twinstar: I was chatting with Lex on Friday evening as I
was looking for some EPP for a project. Lex mentioned he had purchased a
Twinstar but didn't have time to build it. I offered to build it in
exchange for some EPP. I picked up the airplane and decided to do some
work on it later that evening. About 20 batches of five minute epoxy
later, the completed airplane was sitting on my bench. I send Lex an
e-mail and asked him if he wanted to test fly it Saturday morning. He
thought I was kidding but agreed to meet me the next morning and he took
it out for a test fly. The last time I saw the airplane it had flaps
added and it had gained some serious weight due to repairs and the
bottom having a layer of fiberglass added for strength. |
 |
Dave's Aircraft TG-3: Built for flying buddy Dave as a full house
slope sailplane. It has six channels to allow for camber changing and
for crow on landing. I also modified it to allow for ballast to be added
to aid in penetration. I think the maximum ballast was about three
pounds and it flew really well loaded up. It was great fun to half pipe
a scale glider. |
 |
Trick RC Zagi: My son Arron with his Zagi, all shiny and new. He
wanted his own combat airplane so he could mix it up with Dad. He about
exploded the first time he knocked me out of the sky! His interest
didn't last all that long but he did rack up a fair amount of kills.
I'll add a picture some day of the Zagi as it hangs on his wall. When it
wore out we removed the radio gear and added it to his trophy wall. |
 |
Flow: Built for who else, yep Dave. The flow is a nice, light, small
electric glider. A nice lunchtime plane as it fits into the smallest car
and doesn't require anything but a charged battery pack and a
transmitter for a quick flight. It also was great for trying out new
slope sites as it flew well in light lift and you could always power up
to recover the aircraft. |
 |
Mini Flow: A micro hand launch built for Dave. A cute little plane
and fun off a mini hi start as well as on the slope. |
