2010 marks the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouting program in the
United States of America. Since our unit has several Scouts who will
attend the National Jamboree in 2010 I wanted to design something to
commemorate the event. After a fair amount of time spent thinking about
the design and trying out various ideas, the following is the result.
The
reverse (back) of the medallion is designed specifically for our troop
and has the year our unit was formed. In addition, a compass rose is
inscribed to symbolize the troop’s unwavering commitment to the ideals
of Scouting.

The
obverse (front) of the medallion is to recognize the 100 year
anniversary of Scouting. It showcases the fleur-de-lis as the universal
symbol of Scouting.
